The Cubs 2018 Spring Training season is under way and Chicago fans are flooding the valley. Sloan Park is the home of the Cubs and is located in Mesa, Arizona. Sloan Park seats 15,000 people which is the highest capacity crowd in all of Spring Training.
The Cubs are looking to bounce back this season and make another run at a World Series. I’ll have my eye on a couple key things I think the Cubs need to improve on to win another ring.
First off, is they need more contribution from Jason Heyward and Kyle Schwarber. They both had dismal years after the huge contract for Heyward and the highly anticipated follow up season for Schwarber, who has come into Spring Training 20 lbs lighter this year. The Cubs need to have a better start to the season this year after the dreadful pitching start to last year, which leads me to my next point.
Cubs pitching from starters to bullpen has to improve this year and the additions of Yu Darvish and Brandon Morrow will certainly help. Darvish makes his highly anticipated first start for the Cubs on March 6th and will pack the house of Sloan Park.
Sloan Park will likely see over 225,000 people over the 15 games there this Spring. With the perfect weather and endless activities, Arizona is a prime destination spot for travelers from all over.
